PINELLAS COUNTY, FL (WFLA) — A regional woman is accused in a disturbing instance of adoption fraud in which detectives point out she faked her pregnancy and bilked a couple from much more compared to $13,000.
Detectives along with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office began their investigation in March of 2016, as quickly as they were warned by a regional adoption agency of suspected fraud.
Todd and Alyssa Holmstrom, of Minnesota, applied along with the Legacy of Adoption agency in 2014, towards guidance them use a child.
Detectives point out in July 2015, 31-year-old Carrie Cutler, that was pregnant at the time, signed a pre-birth deal for the adoption along with the Holmstrom family. Later that exact same month, Cutler offered ultrasound photos and meant her expected date towards provide birth joined March 2016.

On the expected due date in March 2016, Cutler contacted the Holmstroms and claimed that doctors possessed postponed her delivery date.
Detectives point out that the Holmstroms traveled spine towards Tampa in March, in anticipation for the birth of the child. They met along with Cutler for the very first time in Pinellas County. Detectives said Cutler continued towards mislead the couple and at one point throughout the Holmstroms talking along with Cutler, claimed that the child was “kicking” as she pointed towards her stomach.
